Ralph Lauren was born as Ralph Lifshitz on October 14, 1939 in Bronx, an area in New York which was and is dominated with immigrants. Surely, Ralph himself was a son of Jewish immigrants from Belarus. His father was a house painter named Frank Lifshitz.

When he was 16, his brother Terry changed their last names together into Lauren. Contrary to people’s thought, this was done not because the original name sounded too “Jewish”, but because it contained unfortunate word in English which made Ralph became a bully victim at school.

Lauren’s first job was serving the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. Three years later, he started his lessons in fashion not in school, but in Brooks Brothers as a salesman. Then he started to make his own tie design and sell it under label “Polo”. This label is today his, as many of us have known.

Ralph Lauren married Ricky Wnne Low-Beer on December 20, 1964. Ricky worked as a receptionist in an eye doctor’s office when they met. They have three sons, Dylan, David, and Andrew.

Beside his fashion designs, Ralph is famous for his car collections. He is the owner of over 70 prestigious cars. Most of them are stored in his estates Katonah, New York. Cars which are included in his collection are two Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas, one Ferrari 250 GTO, one Bugatti Veyron, one Lamborghini Reventon, one Porsche 997 GT3 RS, and 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Mille Miglia.
