Born to a 19-year-old single mother on August 17, 1944, little Larry was given to be adopted by his uncle and aunt in Chicago, Louis and Lillian Spellman Ellison, at the age of nine months. The baby’s name then became Lawrence Joseph Ellison, following his adopted parents’ name. His biological father was a US Air Force pilot who was leaving Ellison’s biological mother for a nation’s duty before she realized she was pregnant.
Larry Ellison went to Eugene Field Elementary and Sullivan High School before he moved to South Shore in 1959. He then attended University of Illinois and left it in his second year due to his mother’s death. Ellison then lived with his friend, Chuck Weiss in Nothern California and attended University of Chicago for a year before he moved to Northern California permanently.
Ellison started his career in Amdahl Coporation before he moved to Ampex Corporation, where he developed a project database for CIA named “Oracle”. He founded Software Development Laboratories in 1979 which then became Oracle. His Oracle became big corporation but had to face near-to-bankruptcy moment in 1990.
Ellison received huge compensation for his work and listed on Forbes’ top 100 billionaires in 2010 holding the sixth place. He also has unique luxurious hobbies such as collecting exotic cars, private jets, yachts, and luxurious house in Woodside California. He was married for four times to Adda Quinn, Nancy Wheeler Jenkins, Barbara Boothe, and Melanie Craft which all ended with divorces.
